EASTER EGG

Image
What Are Tech-Related Easter Eggs? In the tech world, Easter eggs are unadvertised features that developers include typically to get a laugh out of users. Easter eggs usually serve no practical purpose other than to entertain. They may incorporate references to pop culture, or they can be obscure in-jokes among programmers. As with real Easter eggs, tech Easter eggs are usually well-hidden, so users must "hunt" to find them. For example, people have discovered dozens of  Google Easter eggs  including secret games, snarky jokes, and fun animations. The First Video Game Easter Egg One of the earliest Easter eggs appeared in the 1979 game  Adventure  for the Atari 2600. At this time, video games did not include credits, so programmers were not recognized for their work. Nonetheless, developer Warren Robinett included his name in a hidden room without telling anyone. When gamers discovered the secret, Atari executives tried to remove the hidden room from future re...

HALF AND FULL-DUPLEX

Image
What is half-duplex? On a channel that is  half-duplex , only one thing on that channel -- a  node  -- can "talk" or transmit information at a time. Once one node has finished transmitting its data, another node can start transmitting data. If multiple nodes try to talk at the same time, a  collision  will occur on the network, resulting in transmission errors or data loss. Half-duplex networks require a mechanism to avoid data collisions. Ethernet uses a method called  carrier sense multiple access with collision detection , or CSMA/CD. In essence, an Ethernet device using half-duplex modes will first check to see if anything else is transmitting before trying to send. If something else is sending, it will wait a random amount of time before trying again. What is full-duplex? On the other hand,  full-duplex  is used to describe communication where two nodes talking to each other are able to send and receive data at the same time. In these ...

Amateur Radio

Image
What is Amateur Radio Amateur radio is a community of people that use radio transmitters and receivers to communicate with other Amateur radio operators. If you were to ask a dozen different amateurs what ham radio meant to them chances are you would get 12 different answers. Amateur radio operators are often called ham radio operators or simply "hams" and frequently the public is more familiar with this term than with the legal term Radio Amateur. The source of this nickname is for all practical purposes lost from the beginning. Amateur (HAM) Radio is truly a hobby but often one that makes a difference especially in emergency or disaster situations. It is an activity of Self Learning, Inter-Communication & Technical Investigation carried on between Amateur Radio Operators. Amateurs talk to local friends over the radio waves using a hand-held transceiver, communicating digitally with packet radio to exchange personal messages or vital information in an emergency, talkin...
